KATIE
“I come from a large family of eight, so growth inside the family unit has always been deeply important to me. My lifelong values gently nudged me to make a huge change in my life- by serving families in Indy as a postpartum doula!
My journey to becoming a doula had several stops along the way. I’ve proudly served our country in the Army for 13 years. It’s taken me to places all over the world, and it’s where I met my incredible husband of 9 years. I originally joined the Army to help pay for the rest of my nursing degree. Marriage, children, life, and my duties meant I had to press pause on nursing for a few years- and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
My family is my world, and I love supporting growing families in my community, knowing the fun times they have to look forward to. I’m a mom of 5- three boys ages 10, 5, and almost 3 years old, and two girls ages 9 & 7. When my clients share with me how overwhelmed, tired, and anxious they are, I can honestly say “I get it” because I truly do.
Nothing, not even being stationed overseas for over a year or holding down the fort during my husband’s deployments, can prepare you for all of the feelings that surround parenthood- especially for first-time parents. Watching a brand new parent is like watching a baby deer. They are wobbly and unsure, yet they keep getting up and moving because they have to. As my time with a family goes by, they become stronger and more confident. It’s not long until they are confidently standing firm inside parenthood. It’s the most precious and sacred experience to witness!
My busy home life doesn’t leave me with a lot of free time, but we sure do make the most of it! In between hockey and soccer, we love to go camping, dabble in arts & crafts, and our family is learning all the back-to-basics homesteading things on our 8-acre farm. We share our little slice of country life with two playful dogs and a small herd of curious goats who keep us entertained and on our toes. Lately, we’ve been dreaming about starting a garden and figuring out chickens in the spring- slowly but surely turning our place into a true family homestead
My life is a busy and beautiful kaleidoscope- and I can’t wait to stand next to you as you learn to embrace your own.”
Katie has been a doula for four years, and she’s supported Indiana Birth & Postpartum clients as a Certified Postpartum Doula + Infant Care Specialist since 2021.
